Dr. Gleason

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Tulsa, has been training psychiatrists for almost 30 years. The residency program is community-based, and university affiliated, working closely with the major hospitals in the Tulsa area to provide outstanding training for psychiatry resident physicians. The faculty of the Department of Psychiatry is comprised of eight psychiatrists, one Ph.D. psychologist and one doctoral level therapist, and over 40 volunteer faculty. The Department also provides psychiatric training for all third year medical students rotating on the Tulsa campus as well as psychiatric electives for fourth year medical students. Our General Psychiatry Residency Training program has four training slots available in each of the four years. In 1996, the Department of Psychiatry and Family Practice collaborated to develop the combined Family Practice-Psychiatry Residency Program. This training program has two slots per year and requires five years of training leading to board eligibility in both Family Practice and Psychiatry.

new clinicIn 2007, our psychiatry clinic moved into a beautiful new 100,000 square foot ambulatory care center on our main campus. This state-of- the-art facility optimizes our ability to educate our residents while providing excellent care for our patients. The new facility houses other clinics as well, including the Pediatric and Internal Medicine outpatient clinics and the Psychiatry IMPACT (Integrated Multidisciplinary Program of Assertive Community Treatment) program.  This arrangement offers increased opportunities for clinical and research collaborations across. Exciting!
