| Prerequisites |

Cable, DSL or other high bandwidth connection at home |
| 2. |
Your PC is running Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional. If it is not, your PC should not be attached to our network. If you do not know, right-click on My Computer, select Properties and it will tell you the version. |

Your PC at home is running a virus protection program such as McAfee VirusScan 7 or higher and it is set to update daily and scan weekly. If not, please install McAfee by visiting http://software.ou.edu, then install and configure the software as above. |
| 4. |
Your PC at home is up to date with all current Windows Critical Updates. If not, go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download and install all Critical Updates. |
| 5. |
Go online at http://tulsa.ou.edu/forms/vpn.htm and sign up for access to the appropriate VPN Group. |

| VPN Installation Instructions |

| 1. |
Open Internet Explorer and go to www.soonerconnect.net/vpn |
| 2. |
In the blue box on the right, click on the link to download the VPN Client - Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Solaris (updated Jan. 19, 2006) |

Read the agreement and click on option:
Click here if you are on the OU campus |
| 4. |
Enter logon information as instructed.

Click on the Windows directory |

Click on windows4.8.exe |
| 7. |
Click Run to start installation |
| 8. |
Click Run again to continue and accept all defaults to install VPN |
| 9. |
Click Finish to complete the installation and reboot the PC. |

Click on Start, Programs, The University of Oklahoma OU-VPN Client, VPN – Dialer. |
| 11. |
Rt-click on the OU-Tulsa connection entry and select Set as Default Connection Entry. |
| 12. |
Click on the Connect button and, when requested, log with your normal SOONER login credentials (4x4). Your username MUST be entered in the format of “username@sooner.net.ou.edu“ (without quotes) |
| 13. |
You should now have access to a new variety of services. |

Note- If you’re at a location where you’re sharing a connection to the internet with other PCs and you’re having problems connecting, you may need to turn on Transparent Tunneling in the connection options to allow you to pass through the local firewall/proxy to the OU-Tulsa VPN. See step-by-step for instructions on how to enable this functionality.
