April 6, 2005

Dear Guest:

Welcome to the official web page for the June 21, 2005 conference, “Bioterrorism and Emergency Medical Services: Meeting the Challenges of the 21 st Century”.

The University of Oklahoma is delighted to host this conference being funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and supported by the Colleges of Public Health and Medicine, the Center for Biosecurity Research and the Southwest Center for Public Health Preparedness.

The unique format for the conference has been developed to give Oklahoma disaster professionals the opportunity to hear Tulsa leaders showcase their accomplishments in the specific areas of pre-hospital, hospital and community-wide bioterrorism preparedness. In each of the various panel sessions, national and international bioterrorism experts will also deliver presentations on the ideal state of bioterrorism preparedness and how to reach that goal. We hope to determine new and unique ways to advance bioterrorism readiness even further by taking what is learned and applying it to the Tulsa response systems already in place.

The purpose of the conference format is to help engage the audience and experts not just for a single day but throughout a several week period. We hope this website will serve as a portal for communication between conference attendees, speakers and panelists. The speakers have all been asked to submit their Power Point presentations by May 15th in order that we can upload them to this web site for viewing prior to the conference. We are accepting questions, ideas, comments and feedback on the various presentations and will attempt to get these all addressed during the question-answer periods during each of the three panel sessions. Feel free to make as many comments as you wish and email them to us, anonymously or otherwise. We will forward them to the respective experts and panel moderators for their consideration prior to the conference.

Thank you again for taking an interest in Oklahoma bioterrorism preparedness. We look forward to seeing you at the conference on June 21.

Sincerely,
